Good Advice

Once the bowl was empty, Lapis was showing glimmers of his usual joie de vivre. Hisoka reappeared, ushering Michael, and Jacques immediately surrendered his seat to the man.

“Hello, there! What’s this now?” Michael gathered up Lapis’ hands. “You’re terribly depleted, Lord Mossberne. Come to us sooner!”

Jacques collected the tray and eased out.

In the hallway, Hisoka spoke in low tones with Sansa. “Is Rilka here?”

“Not yet.”

“Send for her,” he urged.

Jacques gaped. “Now?”

“I think it best,” assured Hisoka.

“And you brought Isla,” murmured Sansa, patting her belly. “Yes. Good. Now.”

“Lord. I’d better warn Argent.”
