Argent dismissed his mischief with a subtle flick.

Jacques reopened the front door, slammed it, and raised his voice. “Mon dieu! Look who it is!”

The predictable stampede left Akira surrounded… and smiling. “Yes, I’m here for good. Is that all right?”

Approval was a carillon of universality.

Lilya rode in on Rake’s back; Kyrie trailed after, leading Cusp, a cub from Minx’s recent litter.

Nonny slipped into the hall, hooves clopping on tile. Instead of joining the throng, he crossed to Jacques and Suuzu, offering a casual, “How’s it going?”

Suuzu did a poor job hiding his confusion. “Nonny?”
