Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one with full days.

Too Soon for Sorrow
“He’s a man. I’ll grant him that.” Jacques took a soothing tone. “But he’s a very young man.”
Suuzu’s voice was barely a whisper. “Years fly.”
“They slow if you fill them. Make them sleek and fat. Laze in each day and enjoy it to the fullest.” Jacques jostled the young phoenix in a friendly way. “Don’t mourn his maturation. Wouldn’t you rather have a man in his prime. I would.”
Suuzu looked scandalized.
“Akira needs time. You have time. Argent will solve your problem.” Jacques gestured to Tsumiko. “She’s noticed, too. And my lord hates to see her sad.”

Just when most people will write our Jacques off as shallow he shows everyone he notices all the under currents affecting his family. Jacques has a fine eye for details.

I love how Argent cares for Tsumiko. He doesn’t miss a thing…and neither does Jacques. Such good advice for Suuzu. He worries so much over Akira.
