LMM 301: Bolt Hole

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the newcomer.

Bolt Hole

Ginkgo’s leaps were making Jacques seasick. “Lord. Where are we going?”

“I have a handful of bolt holes. Dad’s borrowing one.”

“And this is the only way to gain access?”

“Afraid so!”

“At least tell me this bolt hole is not a literal hole,” Jacques begged.

“Nah. See?”

A cabin had been half-buried in brush.

Jacques ducked through the low door behind Ginkgo. When he straightened, there was already someone hurtling toward him. He caught the culprit, grunting under the unaccustomed weight.

Round eyes. Ginger hair. Throttle hold.

Jacques rallied. “Not my type, but I’m a fan of the tail.”
