Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s been left behind.

Comfort Me
Days later, Jacques sought out the one other person who had to know Argent was gone.
Tsumiko sat with a book across her lap as she gazed out the window. Two balls of fur curled at her feet—one raven, one brindle.
Though it was undignified, Jacques joined Rasp and Rake on the floor. Resting his chin on Tsumiko’s knee, he lifted a mournful gaze and whispered, “How much longer?”
“Soon. I hope.”
“Lord, I miss him.”
“Trust him.”
She petted his hair, and he hid his face against her skirt, letting her prayers and the cubs’ purring comfort him.

I really enjoy how their relationship as evolved and that they can comfort each other like this while Argent is off being…well Argent.

What a beautiful drawing this would make. I love the image of them waiting like this together. I’m always glad to see Tsumiko included. I think she has learned to use fox magic and hide in plain sight within Stately House.
