LMM 260: Fit

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who is probably joking. Probably.

Jacques was no battler, but keeping up with crossers definitely helped a fellow stay fit. He joined their workout, though at half the speed of Sansa and the boys.

“Your form is good,” she said mildly.

“Speed isn’t everything.”

“What else do you have?”

Jacques winked. “Staying power.”

She laughed and lowered herself to the floor. “Then you stay, yes?”

Jacques flopped gratefully and kicked up his heels. “I have done something impetuous.”

“And you need backup?” Sansa’s dark eyes glittered. “What shall I bring? Polearm? Crossbow? Whip?”

“Lord.” Propping chin on hand, Jacques sighed. “It’s good to be home.”

  2. God, I love Jacques and Sansa. I have come to conclude that nothing Jacques does is truly impetuous. He might appear flighty but his exterior hides a very shrewd person who often see far deeper than folks realize. Thank you for the daily prose. It is a light and bright moment in what is still a daily locked in routine. I love these characters and the glimpse you give into who they are. It’s become my window into the outside world right now.

  3. “Staying power”! That was so funny! But that is indeed how he manages to be who and where everyone needs him to be. Now comes the big reveal to Sansa. I have lived these wonderful little gifts every day this month. ❤️
