LMM 247: Superiority Complex

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s actually a father.

“We are done waiting,” Jacques announced. It was a very royal we. “Find Isla’s classroom assignment.”

“Ridiculous. You’re no reaver.”

“I’m not a lot of things. You should be more concerned with what I am.” A superior smile. A subtle aggression.

“You’re a journalist.”

“Having trouble with them, are you?”

“Repeatedly.”

“I do sympathize. The paparazzi have beastly manners.” A pitying sneer. A patronizing tone. “Her classroom? I’d rather avoid further unpleasantries.”

The administrator paled. “Are you threatening the school?”

“Lord, you are an alarmist.” An exasperated insult. A casual order. “Call security, then. I’m curious to meet Sentinel, anyhow.”
