Chapter 230: Startling

Kagome couldn’t prevent a collision. It was silly to fret. It wasn’t as if Sesshoumaru was fragile. But she was all elbows and knees, and she had a record of awkward landings.

All of the sudden, silver fur blurred into action, its plushness snaking around her body with surprising strength, arresting her momentum, bringing her to eye level with playful yellow stripes.

Somehow, she confined her reaction to a startled squeak.

Inuyasha and Kohaku paused long enough to glance over, then went straight back to discussing breakfast options. As if all was right with the world.

So maybe it was.
