LMM 216: Ever the Teacher

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who’s eager to please.

“Describe any changes,” urged Hisoka.

Jacques shuddered and wondered if he was going into shock… or subspace. “I don’t like danger, you know. Not into pain. Not my scene.”

Hisoka looked worried.

“Is there an ideal outcome here?” Jacques didn’t want to disappoint any of them. “What are you even trying to do?”

“Teach your soul to take what it needs.”

Almost a straight answer. Hisoka was worried.

“I can’t imagine I’m very cooperative,” he joked.

“Rarely.”

Jacques stared at the hole in the ceiling, where starlight danced.

“Do not give up.” Hisoka quietly added, “I have reason to hope.”

  2. Oh, is Hisoka trying to tend Jacques? He (and Argent and Lapis) wants to share his years? *delicious shiver*, I love how, with just a few choice words you make me FEEL so much.

I read and re-read each chapter so many times and then go back and read them altogether looking for more clues. I love your writing – thank you for the joy you bring!

  3. A straight answer from Hisoka?! Now that’s a rarity. Jacques still has a few walls to let down but it seems that they might just be starting to crumble a bit.

  4. “Teach your soul to take what it needs” It seems he has Tsumiko’s tendency: He gives easier than he takes. If Jacques has luck, perhaps kisses will teach him the path as well 😉

  5. Trust Hisoka. He is a teacher, and his people call him prophet.
I am wondering, why he has so much interest in Jacques.
And I like Hisoka acting very (tom)cat-like. It will do him probably good.
But wait – starlight dancing! Oh!
