Readiness
“Uncle isn’t here, yet, but I’ll… ah.” Canarian trailed off when he realized Argent had vanished. “Does he do that often?”
“Leave me in the hands of another gentleman? Not often enough.” Jacques was getting good at deflection. In his own way. “How would you like me?”
Canarian’s face registered surprise. Then a soupcon of interest.
“So… Evernhold?” inquired Jacques. They touched palms. “I know a Deece Evernhold.”
“My baby brother.”
There was a resemblance. “Deece had sexy older brother? Happy Christmas to me!”
Laughing and looping an arm around his waist, Canarian said, “Cat is going to love you.”
