Chapter 215: Late
The clearing no longer reeked of death. Still, recognition gutted Sesshoumaru, and he fought to steady his breathing.
“Over here.” Bypassing blackened ground, Kohaku strode toward a spot where the earth had been disturbed. Salty tears scented the air. Kohaku was crying—silently, unabashedly.
Slipping from Shishi’s back, Sesshoumaru drifted over, sank to his knees, and buried his fingers in soil.
Kagome joined him there, and in a clear voice, as if nothing had happened, said, “Hello, Rin-chan, Jaken-sama. And to you, too, Ah-Un. We didn’t mean to be late, but we’re here now.”
Suddenly, Sesshoumaru was crying—silently, unabashedly.
