Chapter 214: Critical
Sesshoumaru knew his claws could carve through flesh and bone. His poison was slightly less effective against stone, but that suited his purposes. Slicing through Kagome’s lines, he gouged, tapered, and smoothed.
“It’s like brushwork!” exclaimed Kagome.
Her admiration doubled when he neatly incised a flower into the marker. The first he’d ever offered Rin. And the last.
Kohaku brought a matching rock, and they dedicated it to Jaken’s memory. Kagome’s pencil. His poison. And Kohaku’s suggestion for an added inscription—tenacious one.
His twin-headed dragon received a final commendation—trustworthy.
Sesshoumaru studied his handiwork with a critical eye. Satisfied.

That’s a heartbreaking moment but a sweet farewell.

;-; I’m inordinately pleased that Jaken got his own memorial. Regardless of anything else, Sess must have trusted him (in canon I mean) if he left Rin in his care as often as he did.
