Chapter 213: Short

Kagome used white pencil to outline the character for Rin’s name upon her memorial stone. So short. Erasing it, she started over.

Enthralled in her task, she didn’t notice Sesshoumaru until he demanded, “Show me.”

She angled the stone. “Since she has no family name, I thought….”

In smaller characters, she’d added treasured child.

Sesshoumaru hummed, and his stripes soared through deepening blues. His fingertips lightly grazed the characters. “This will not last.”

“Usually, someone chisels the letters deep, so they’ll last for centuries.”

A sudden hiss startled her as the air filled with the bittersweet scent of Sesshoumaru’s poison.

  2. I know how much this means to him. My husband had a sister who passed away when she was only a few months old. She had spinal bifida, it was the late 50s and medical help was not as advanced as it is now. She was interred in a family plot but there was never a headstone. He and another cousin searched for her about 15 years ago. He had a headstone carved for her. I know it brought him so much closure. ❤️
