Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the fashion rebel.

Wardrobe Emergency
“You took these off so they wouldn’t get dirty?”
Kyrie mumbled, “I promised.”
“These are your good clothes, your father’s colors.” Jacques shook out the princely silks, admiring silver embroidery. “Keeping clean is important, but you must keep warm, young master.”
The boy cast a longing look at his friend, whose breeches were made for tree-climbing and games of chase. “I want to play with Ever.”
Swaying words.
Jacques heeded them, but only because he could sympathize. “Naturellement! A change is in order. Your brother insisted I pack jeans.”
Without a backward glance or second thought, Jacques carried them home.
