Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one with a compelling singing voice.

Sea Monster
Sinder shifted and called, “Aren’t you going to swim with me?”
“I haven’t any swimwear.”
“Neither do I.”
“I see your point. Just a mo.” Back on sand, Jacques stripped and stowed his clothes. “It’s mad, swimming with sea monsters.”
Deece held his hand.
Jacques ducked under and pushed wet curls out of his face. Sinder rose from the water, looking like a siren. Jacques felt like a drowned rodent by comparison. “Lord, you’re pretty.”
“And you’re plucky.” Sinder sloshed closer. “I heard you’re afraid of dragons.”
“Within reason.”
“Let me help with that.”
Embracing the madness, Jacques answered, “Oui.”

This feels a bit like “come into my den said the wolf to the lamb” (though I know Sinder doesn’t bite. Much.)

Lovely imagery that! Jacques must be a bit overwhelmed at the moment!
