Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. Catching Up on Paperwork

Jacques waited until full dark before knocking smartly.

“It’s open.” Sinder sat amidst scattered files, scanning something on his phone.

“What are you reading?”

“What for?” It was a lot of paperwork.

“So I’ll know what they say.” Sinder tempered his sass with a smile. “I do this every night.”

“Sounds dull.”

He shrugged. “It’s my job. And after a few days of radio silence, I’m behind.”

“Will it take long?” Jacques was nervous and excited about his plans. Maybe that carried through.

Tossing aside his phone, Sinder said, “Nah. What’s up?”

Jacques crooked a finger. “Come and see.”
