LMM 158: Left Holding the Baby

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially for the one whose persistence is rewarded.

Jacques timed his arrival in the kitchen to coincide with the return of the beach party. They came squelching in, trailing damp towels and shedding sand. Mustering up a reasonable attempt at solicitude, he murmured, “Welcome back, my lord.”

Argent passed him Kyrie.

Not the honor he’d been hoping for. Jacques valiantly inquired, “Shall I help you dress?”

“Thank you, Smythe.”

He was so surprised, he slipped out of character. “Was that … yes?”

With a twitch of his lips that may have been a smile, Argent took Tsumiko’s arm. “The closet near our suite. I will meet you there.”
