Jacques turned his back on the scene of domestic harmony. “Are you going to tell me your name?”

“Sinder.”

“And why are you lurking about?”

He cast a sulky glance at the house. “I’m just a tagalong, stranded here for the festival’s duration.”

“Festival?”

“Ever heard of Dichotomy Day?”

Non.”

“Amaranthine festival, twice a year, culminates during the solstices. Suuzu had his heart set on spending this one with Akira, and my partner’s his own special brand of helicopter brother.”

So he had a male pronoun kind of partner? But they were hiding it? “How delicious. You’re a secret paramour?”
