The ashen gray of Sesshoumaru’s stripes briefly flared into oranges, like breath across cooling embers, but they quickly returned to a dull pewter.
Understanding left Kagome cold, and Kohaku’s hand tightened around hers.
She’d have to make a note in her book that saturation might indicate the strength of an emotion.
Gray was a lesser grief. This was pity.
