Gentleman’s Agreement

“How does this work?” asked Jacques.

“I keep you close. You keep my secrets.”

“You’ll confide in me?”

“That is my intention,” confirmed Argent.

“Like what?”

“Who can say? I am anticipating a future need.” He returned to the original question. “Pactmates can formalize their commitment in any number of ways. As you are a gentleman, a handclasp would suffice.”

Jacques immediately offered his. “My hand is yours.”

Argent firmed his grip. “For now, we could exchange names.”

“I already know… oh!” Jacques was proud of himself for catching on. “My lord, have you earned a nickname among the packs?”
