Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the trickster.

Layers of Meaning
Argent’s lips quirked. “Anyone who has regular dealings with canines may find themselves with a nickname.”
Oooh, he was deflecting. Jacques rubbed his hands together. “Yourself included?”
“Yes.”
“Don’t you want to tell me?”
“I can hardly prevent you from learning something that is widely known.”
He still wasn’t saying. Jacques wondered why. “Is it embarrassing?”
“Not at all. Indeed, it is increasingly appropriate.”
“Why are you being cryptic?”
The quirk deepened into a smirk. “All the wrong reasons.”
“Is it polite to tease pactmates?”
“If they enjoy it.”
Jacques… did. “Will you tell me?”
“Certainly. Harmonious dubbed me Flourish.”

It’s so very interesting to come back and read these (I’m rereading the series from the beginning, so I decided to layer in LMM between books as appropriate). I had completely forgotten Argent’s nickname!
