Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially for the one who ran to what the other’s running from.

Kidnapper
“Why?” puffed Jacques, once they’d gained the garden. “Why’re you scared?”
Nonny wriggled and pushed. “Fox is why.”
That was a bother.
Firstly, because it would have been in poor taste for someone with an unreasonable fear of dragons to frown upon an unreasonable fear of foxes.
And secondly because nothing could counter the fact that Argent was a fox—sharp and blunt and cunning. Things people only overlooked if they didn’t have to deal with him regularly. Or if they loved him devotedly.
“Right. Here’s the thing.”
Nonny stilled expectantly.
“Ignore what he says and see what he does.”

Bravo Jacques! Always great advice! That’s a huge step for him. Sometimes it’s easier to overcome your own fears when helping someone else deal with theirs.
