If you haven’t run across this tidbit of information, let me restate it here. The Amaranthine Saga is slated to have seven books. (I planned that much—and named all the mikos—before I began writing the first book.)
I won’t mess with half books, so the main series won’t have a volume 0.5 or 3.5, but I’ll play around a little with my free “fanfic,” Lord Mettlebright’s Man, which may just plod along in the background of the whole series. The collection I’m calling Songs of the Amaranthine will contain stand-alone short stories that predate the Emergence.

We knew it might happen. Having pre-ordered the print edition of Kimiko and the Accidental Proposal from Amazon myself, I know many of you just received a helpful update, letting you know that the book now has an anticipated delivery date of mid-December. This is out of my control.

Ordering books from me just became really real, because THIS was in my inbox this morning:
Book Boxes. My authorial order from the printer (who is apparently quite busy at this time of year) is on its way and will arrive TOMORROW. My assembly line is ready to roll, and signed books will be bundled off to the post office Thursday morning. Shipments in the US have been taking about a week, so expect your books by Thursday, October 25.

I posted here that I was thinking about using this year’s Inktober prompts for some playful drabbling. With a character in mind, a setting all ready, and a prompt list for inspiration, it wasn’t hard to make things happen. So I’ll be posting a chapter a day in October. (That means we start Monday!) Here’s a refresher on the prompts:
I’m calling the results my first Amaranthine Saga fanfic (even though I’m the author). Everything is very spiffy and official-like. I have a title, a summary, and even a book cover. In classic forthright tradition, the story will have 100-word chapters … and will probably take a few years to tell.
Want to drabble/drawble along?
“No need to stand … or stand on formalities.” He strode forward and crouched beside her, offering a hand. “I’m Gingko.”
Tsumiko’s eyes widened, for her gardener had claws.
He sighed. “Nobody told you about me?”
“No.”
“Figures.”
Gingko pushed back his hat. He was younger than she expected—about her own age, perhaps a little older. While he had the famed beauty of the inhuman races, his pupils were round. Which only confused Tsumiko further, because it made Gingko seem more human.

I don’t like spoilers, nor do I like to spoil surprises. That’s probably why I’ve been sitting on Gingko art for so long. His return to Stately House may be forecast early on, but Tsumiko certainly didn’t see him coming. Permission to Peek. We’re busily adding flourishes to Kimiko’s story, those little details that make the print editions so, so pretty. Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox is strewn with flower petals, but Kimiko and the Accidental Proposal is a different story. Take a look at a few of the designs for scene break dividers.
Print editions will start showing up in online bookstores in the next couple weeks, and I’ll begin taking pre-orders for author-signed copies on Monday, October 1. At the moment, you can only pre-order the digital edition on Amazon. But it’ll be available everywhere soon.
