LMM 587: Under Cover of Darkness

Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one in the dark.

Hallow wordlessly transferred Argent into Jacques’ arms, stood upon Colt’s broad back, and began weaving sigils.

Jacques peered around, but it was wretchedly dark. Rather the point.

Also, it wasn’t as if he could do anything about a hypothetical attacker. Argent’s safety was up to Hallow and Colt, both capable swordsmen. Non. The only thing Jacques could do was protect Argent’s rest. Moods mattered, and—all entendre aside—he knew how to set one.

So Jacques distracted himself by relaying several saucy schoolboy anecdotes that were foundational to understanding his ever-expanding packing list for Nonny, who would soon be dorm-bound.
