Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the beggar.

Set Me Up
Jacques inspected his nails, which still shimmered with pearly polish. “You’ve never asked about my assignations before.”
“You’ve never taken up with another member of the household before.”
“Sure about that?” he challenged
Argent’s briefly calculating look fell away, and he unbuckled, glided down the aisle, and returned with a single flute and a bottle of champagne. “Best they can do.”
“Beggars can’t be choosers.”
Playing the sommelier, Argent uncorked and poured.
Jacques sipped, slouched back in his seat, and stared out the window
Eventually, Argent said, “I am sure. Of you.”
“Right.” Jacques raised his glass. “Keep them coming.”
