Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who sang.

Always Important
Jacques was honestly afraid to ask. “Is that… important?”
“Always.” Ginkgo leaned to the side and turned Jacques’ face to meet his gaze. “Wolfsong is always important. And in that context? You did good.”
“I did very little. He was the one….”
“Yeah. I get that. But I still say you took the right kind of care of our Sonnet. Wish I’d been there to hear. But… it won’t matter.”
“I thought you said it’d be important.”
“Oh, it is. I just meant I didn’t really need to be there. If you’ve changed Sonnet’s song, I’ll hear it. Everyone will.”
