Mutual Appreciation
Ginkgo piggybacked Jacques toward home. “You’re escorting Inti to Jiminy’s enclave. But first, we’re hitting the nearest bathtub.”
“You’re coming with me?” asked Jacques. “That’s rare.”
“Not much choice. Or did you want me to deliver you to Dad looking like sex and smelling like a threesome?”
Jacques snorted. “You’re straight.”
“Yep, but you’re not the first guy to help a good friend over an awkward patch.” He quietly asked, “You gonna be okay, Jacques?”
“I’m going to be grateful.”
“I get that. I mean… wolves.”
Jacques murmured, “Lord, yes.” But his appreciation was far less generalized after last night.
