The next morning, Jacques was intent on having a quick word with Ginkgo about certain arrangements. Michael directed him toward his own office, where the fox-crosser was apparently serving as translator for Tsumiko.

Preparing tea for all involved, Jacques swept through the door, ears straining for any tidbits of gossip, but an unfamiliar man said, “Kip’s not here ….”

Then Jiminy’s voice. “Allow me.”

Beyond curious, Jacques circled the desk to peer over Ginkgo’s shoulder. “Kip?” he echoed.

Jiminy glanced his way and grinned. “Friend of ours. There, that’s done it.”

Tsumiko gasped, and Jacques’ amazement matched hers. Lord. Wings.
