Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one who loves children.

Congratulations
Jacques mostly hung back, letting Sonnet bask in the warmth of her clan’s congratulations. With Vanya in her arms, she was courage itself.
Brava.
Hands down, Jacques’ favorite moment was when Eloquence swooped in, stole Vanya from Harmonious, and settled the baby in Sentinel’s arms. There was some good-natured ribbing about becoming a grandsire, and he scowled. But Sentinel also inhaled slowly, no doubt adding Vanya to his heart and his den.
“Are you surprised, Da?” Sonnet quietly asked. “That they trusted someone like me?”
“No,” Sentinel’s gaze lifted. “There is no place safer than the heart of a wolf.”

Eloquence is well named. He speaks, both in words and in action, not only for those who have no voice but also for those like Sonnet who are to reticent to raise their own voice.

There is no safer place than the heart of a wolf. That quote needs to go on your next bag or art card. I love this moment for Sonnet.

Sigh. All the feels here…unlike Sentinel’s acceptance, my father will never refer to me as his son.
