Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one with very nice shoes.

Shoes Off
“My shoes?”
“If I may?” Jacques knelt before her chair and tugged at ribbons. “Fear not. I’ll put you back to rights.”
“Why must I be barefoot?”
He patted an ankle before glancing up. “Because I don’t kiss women.”
Sonnet’s eyes widened.
“Most of the ladies in my life get air kisses and harmless remarks that pass as compliments. Hmm. Stockings on or off?”
“Leave them. I’ll be male for you.”
Jacques rose and stepped smartly into Sonnet’s personal space. “Then if I may… paraphrase?”
Sonnet’s tail quivered, his posture receptive.
“My wolvish is unrefined,” warned Jacques. “Pardon my accent.”
