You May Be Excused

Lapis had swathed himself in sheer fabrics that shifted between navy and gold as he moved, offering mesmerizing glimpses of hip bones, collar bones, and so much skin. Lord, dragons were ornamental.

A fleeting touch acknowledged Jacques’ appreciation, but Lapis was saying, “Are you a Woodacre? You look like a Woodacre.”

Moments later, Jacques and Isla were excused.

As sigilcraft banned them further, Isla murmured, “I wonder if Kip wants to come to Stately House? For school, I mean.”

Leave it to Isla to assume all interests were academic.

Jacques sighed. He’d missed his chance to ask Jimsy about Sonnet.

  3. Yeah, I’ll be freaking out if I caught the attention of someone who was not the gender I’m attracted to, and here is Lapis not only felling complimented but also felling grateful for it.
