Ninook asked, “How did you and Sonnet become acquainted?”
“A bit of weather-provoked serendipity. I was caught in the rain. We shared a pot of tea.”
“And became close?”
“Not especially. My duties keep me with Argent, and Sonnet works alongside Sansa. We do overlap in the naproom.”
“We both like cubs,” murmured Sonnet, who offered their newcomer.
Jacques cradled the coyote crosser, who gathered breath to wail.
“Non. None of that. You’re not carried off, mon petit. Here is your trusted one.” Moving closer to Ninook he coyly added, “Get your whiff and learn that I am quite harmless.”
