Tale Bringer

Nobody had noticed at first. Why would they? Kyrie rarely strayed. But out-of-bounds incidents kept adding up.

By some quirk of heritage, barriers were useless against the boy. He strolled right past them.

Kyrie offered his hands to Rake, who butted him affectionately.

Deece asked, “What’s happened?”

“The Elderboughs are early.”

“Did they need help?”

The boy shook his head and cast a longing look at Jacques, who was only too happy for an excuse to leave off crunching his abdominals. “Well?” he prompted.

“Ninook and Joonta brought two new children.” And in an awed whisper, “One is a baby.”
