“I hope not. You’ve always been part of their lives, part of our hearth.” Deece reasoned it through. “I guard you, I groom you, I hold you while you sleep. And Minx thinks it’s… cute.”
It had never occurred to Jacques that Minx might object.
Rasp scooted closer and licked Jacques’ cheek.
Rake began to purr.
Deece cleared his throat. “She calls you my pet, in teasing.”
“Is that why you all toy with me, mes amis?” Jacques pressed wrist to brow.
Fend ambled closer and nosed Jacques’ belly.
“So strict,” Jacques complained, but sit-ups resumed.
