Jacques had never been a morning person, and none of his former acquaintances would ever have called him dedicated to anything but fashion. But devotion could drive a man to unforeseen lengths.
Still clutching a coffee cup, Jacques dragged himself across the garden at the ungodly hour of nine-thirty to undergo the daily rigors that kept him fit to be tailored.
True, he could have gone to Sansa, who put their energetic young crossers through their paces, but Jacques preferred a kinder, gentler taskmaster.
“Lord, I hate this,” he grumbled to Deece.
“I know. But we look forward to it.”
