Before agreeing to anything, Josheb raised his hand and said, “Hey. Did I do something to make you think I’m wary of you?”
Jacques thought back. “Not specifically. Many are, so I’m accustomed t–”
The last thing he expected was for Josheb to haul him close and hug him. “I’m sorry you were hurt by enough people that you expect more of the same.”
This was highly irregular.

Jacques tried to think of something witty to say, but then Sonnet got involved, enfolding them both and crooning, “You’re both good boys. Let’s all get along.”
