Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially for the investigative reporter.

Pet Theory
“Josheb’s… a lot. And Suuzu didn’t like his questions.”
“I think Josheb was intrigued. There aren’t many like us.” Jacques rested his hand over Akira’s and Suuzu’s tangled ones. “While the Amaranthine offer peace, it’s not the same as friendship. Few unendowed humans are invited into a den or nest.”
“Caleb was,” pointed out Akira.
“He’s an unregistered reaver, so Andor’s interest makes sense. By comparison, we have nothing to recommend us. Yet here we are.”
“I didn’t do anything worth investigating. Suuzu and I just… happened.”
