Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the hospitable one.

Redolent of Bear
“I have no plans to get up to anything with Cat and Canary.”
“This time,” snapped Nonny.
“This time,” Jacques returned evenly. He perched on the edge of a strawbale. “I intend to rejoin Lapis. Have a kip. Fit in some reading. All very chaste and proper.”
Nonny managed to look skeptical and skittish. “What about grooming?”
“Naturellement. You know it’s hospitable. They’re Deece’s brothers.” He pointed out, “Hisoka will be there, too.”
“And Deece?”
“And you, if you’ll relent.” Jacques held out a hand. “Come along, apprentice mine. You’re redolent of bear. No offense, Doran.”
The bear grunted again.

Ah, Jacques knows just how to speak to Nonny 🥰
I wonder what bears smell like? Maybe Doran needs some grooming too!

I’m guessing that Nonny has absorbed some less than appealing aromas and needs attending to, whether he likes it or not.
