Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the insulted one.

Dealing with Dragons
Setting a teacup before Jacques, Argent deployed a sigil and murmured, “Care to offer an early assessment?”
“Selfish. Imperious. Concerned. They remind me of you.”
“Impossible.”
“Non?” Jacques teased. “No retraction.”
A silvery brow arched. “You will explain yourself. Later.”
“Yes, my lord.”
When later arrived, Jacques was summarily cornered and quizzed.
“Did they try to sway you?” Argent demanded.
“Unintentionally, I think.”
“And…?”
“Impervious, as advertised.” Jacques slyly added, “Now, if they’d flirted…!”
Argent growled.
“Lord, I’m the last thing on their mind.”
“And the first?”
“Safety. Stability. Security.” Jacques advised, “Promise them those, and they will capitulate.”

Jacques has made himself so indispensable to Argent. I adore how their relationship has grown in this series and how clearly he is valued and appreciated. He truly has found his place and blossomed.

Just another example of how much Jacques has come to mean to Argent. He is very clever.

All these dragon lords need a “Michael” or “Jiminy” or “Jacques”, carefully chosen, handpicked, to be protected and stay “up to date” with humanity. The “Order of Spomenka” is needed more than ever.
Quo vadis, Jacques?

A lovely chapter, but what stood out for me is that Argent always knows exactly what questions to ask!
And I love how Jacques ruffles Argent’s tails with his cheeky teasing 😆
