Kagome mentally shelved her family’s goodbyes and farewells. She’d ponder the promises they’d traded another time. Maybe even until the time they’d meet again. Something told her Sesshoumaru was right, that this was an eternal bond.
Inuyasha had explained.
Mama had hesitated.
Kagome had insisted. That life in this era might not be fairy tale perfect, but it was right for her.
Leaving her baggage for Inuyasha to collect later, she clambered up vines and sat on the well’s rim to catch her breath and come to terms. This was her home now.
Birds scattered, light streaked, and Kagome gasped.
