“How old would you guess Nonny is?”
“In Amaranthine terms or human equivalents?” asked Deece.
“Lord. I’ve only been human. Go with that.”
“Thirteen…?” The cat smoothed a thumb under the kid’s eye, which was smudged dark. “And needlessly depleted.”
“Right. Can you stay?” Jacques folded back his duvet. “Tuck him in with me.”
“Oi! I’m too old to be tucked in!”
“Absurdité. I adore tucking. Learn from me and be wise.”
“Wise arse.”
“Mind your hooves.”
Nonny stilled, but his lip trembled.
Jacques pulled him close, kissed his forehead, and promised, “One never outgrows the need for beauty sleep.”

Jacques was 23 when he arrived at Stately House (after Bk1). So he’s 25-ish at this point. Kind of depends on when his birthday falls.

Poor Nonny. He’s been standing on the outer edges of the family circle. He really needs some tending. I wonder if his surly outer attitude will melt a little after a while? Sweet chapter. ❤️
