October Things

Busy, Busy Month. Tomorrow is the 1st of October, and I’m kind of reeling over how much FUN STUFF will be packed into the coming month. Let’s do a quick run-down to sync our calendars. ::twinkle::

Fumiko and the Finicky Nestmate (ebook) is currently available for pre-order in ALL the online venues. Those of you who buy the digital edition will boost my First Week numbers, which pleases the algorithms. Thanks for that! But I still have the most fun getting signed books (with all those personal touches & swag) into your hands. As per tradition, I’ll open up pre-orders for Fumiko on OCTOBER 1. (Yep, that’s tomorrow.) October kicks off Inktober, and that means a month of Jacques Smythe. Lord Mettlebright’s Man will honor its beginnings by updating every day during October, using this year’s prompt table. Look forward to it!

Some of you have coaxed by other stories I’ve written, and I’m grateful that so many of you have picked up the Galleries of Stone trilogy, which I published under another penname. Unless there’s a change in the schedule (such things do keep us on our toes), Travis Baldree will begin narrating Bk1: Meadowsweet in October, and you can listen in. He streams his recording sessions live, and it’s so much fun to watch him work. I’ll be there, probably too giddy to be sensible.

Traditional Gift

Cub Reporter [Naruto]

Fanniversary Special. It’s been 15 YEARS since I posted my first fanfic! ::confetti toss:: During my 2020 milestone, just for fun, I posted the first two chapters of my first Naruto fanfic, and when that story wrapped up, I promised a sequel for this year’s fandom anniversary. So here we are! If you haven’t read News Hound, do that first, because Cub Reporter takes place close on its heels. This fanfic will update on Wednesdays.

Summary: Sequel to News Hound. Iruka reaches the meeting point for his next undercover mission a day early. Terranean is a big enough city, getting lost in the crowds should be a cinch. But what’s lost can be found. And being found out would be disastrous. [Iruka & Kakashi/Sukea/Hound]

Bard & Barbarian

Narrated Edition. Bard and Barbarian has been posting slow and steady over on my Patreon account. Reading along is great, but supporters on some tiers can now listen along. Ch16, “Don’t Be Strangers” just went live for those in qualifying tiers. AND Ch12, “At the Pike & Lager” just unlocked for the Twinkle and Sparkle tiers.

Listen In

Narration Sessions. Over the next few days (beginning tomorrow, 9/22), Travis Baldree will be creating the audio edition of Fumiko and the Finicky Nestmate (Amaranthine Saga, #5). If you are so inclined, you can sneak in and listen to him creating the audio book LIVE on his Discord server: Cryptid Audio.

Usual start time: 8:30 – 9:00 am (Pacific)

On the plus side, it’s FUN to watch Travis work. And you’d be getting to hear the book a whole month before it releases. But if you can’t set yourself down and listen straight through (it’ll take 3 days to record the whole book), you’ll either end up with a piecemeal account or (le gasp) spoilers.
