Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the one being checked out.

Lacking Nothing
“What sort of name is Paltry?”
The more-or-less wolf returned in time to answer for himself. “My mother bequeathed a proper one, but I go by Paltry. It suits me.”
Jacques couldn’t see how. Paltry wasn’t lacking in size or generosity.
Silk settled against Jacques’ skin, and he sighed in pleasure. Belatedly, he recalled that he hadn’t parted with his own name. “I’m Jacques Smythe, currently of Stately House.”
“Valor confirms it,” murmured Sonnet. “And calls him Devotion.”
Jacques hadn’t heard his pack name in a while. “Checking up on me?”
Suddenly, the door slapped open, and someone singular entered.
