Supportive Friend

Jacques helped Hisoka out of his shoes.

Ginkgo reappeared with a blanket, his ears canted worriedly. “Pushing your limits, Sensei?”

“So it would seem.”

“What do you need?” Ginkgo looked worried. “Dad? Deece?”

“That may be wise.”

Hisoka wavered in place, and Jacques quickly lent a shoulder. Pivoting into him, the cat pressed his nose firmly against Jacques’ neck. “Lord. How long since you slept?”

Argent strode in, sighed, and scolded.

Deece summarily scooped and bundled his uncle away.

Knowing he could still hear, Jacques called after them in French. “They know what you need. I know what you want.”
