Delightful. His eight-year-old Japanese tutor.
In no mood to bash his head against a language barrier, Jacques demanded, “Why is this such a big deal?”
Isla clasped her hands and beamed. “I’m glad you asked!”
Sensing an oncoming lecture, Jacques opted to make it torturous for them both. “Non. In French.”
Partway through, Jacques dragged Gilen into the discussion. Shortly thereafter, he flagged down Akira, since Suuzu had the good taste to be fluent. Music to his ears.
Then Isla ran off to find a board game, and Jacques helped Akira scrounge for snacks.
And it was… fun.
