Kagome peered up through her lashes at the gently ebbing colors, hoping they’d help her decode Sesshoumaru’s mood. He seemed focused on each deep inhalation, as if trying to figure her out by scent.
The very idea made her smile.
Sesshoumaru’s nostrils quivered, and he manifested a new color. Kagome was positive it hadn’t appeared before. He caught her staring, and the richly burnished gold faltered, then deepened.
He knew she was awake.
Should she get up? Probably.
She was out of excuses.
But Sesshoumaru touched her head, fingers tangling. And with gentle pressure he communicated a simple message. Stay.
