Chapter 142: Transcendent

Even after she released him, Sesshoumaru kept hold of Kagome’s hair. Wanting to remain at the center of her attention. To get her to look at him. To keep these rivals from dividing her focus.

“Did you see?” she asked.

He wasn’t sure what he’d seen. Or felt.

Her smile wavered out of existence. “You missed it!” she accused.

“What’d you expect, Kagome?” Inuyasha rolled golden eyes. “All the hair-pulling probably distracted him.”

Oh.

Sesshoumaru had missed his brother’s transformation. But that hardly mattered compared to a different dawning. If the miko’s absence was terrible, her full attention was transcendent.
