Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the cheeky one.

Me in a Word
“You are familiar with the dogs’ unique naming sense?”
Jacques shrugged. “Theirs are easier to remember than wolf names.”
“By design,” acknowledged Argent. “Dogs embrace a word of personal meaning or significance. Words that embody a strong emotion or a future hope.”
“You’re making lists again.”
“Cheek.”
“Are you being cryptically longwinded because my new name will offend me… or because it offends you?”
That seemed to startle Argent. “No, Jacques. It’s a good name. Even Tsumiko agrees.”
Jacques’ indignation flared. “Everyone else knows?”
“Word travels fast in a pack.” Argent huffed and sighed. “They have begun calling you Devotion.”
