Creature Comforts
“Enlighten me,” challenged Argent. “What sets the man before me apart from the spoiled boy who haunts my memories?”
Jacques breezily summed up. “Adult interests.”
“Too vague.” Argent waved a hand. “You promised a list.”
“I want… an espresso machine and a French chef to make breakfast pastries. Fine cheeses and a cellar filled with star wine. Access to an excellent tailor.” After a moment’s thought, he added, “And a place to hide.”
“Your linen cupboard no longer suffices?”
Jacques hadn’t realized Argent knew. He indicated the queue for Gingko’s piggyback rides. “They’ll follow me.”
“Much as you followed me.”
