Claimer: I do hereby claim all rights and responsibility for the characters in this series of vignettes because the Amaranthine Saga is mine. (Which means I should probably behave myself since anything I say or do could be taken as canon.) Indulge the lot of us, especially the compliant ones.

Jacques set Deece and his uncle to slicing, mixing, and spreading. Their compliance was a pleasant surprise. “Do cats do like dogs do?”
Mark topped off his glass. “In what sense?”
“Nicknames.”
“If befriended by the packs.” Mark indicated Hisoka. “For instance, he’s Posy.”
How amusing. Jacques adored gossip, and these tidbits were tasty. “Why?”
“His cloak.”
Jacques scrutinized the illustrious cat. “What cloak?”
“I don’t wear it in summer.”
“Maybe Michael can magic you some snow.”
“While my former apprentice is capable of much, weathercraft belongs to the wind.” Hisoka was suddenly very close indeed. “Are we exchanging names?”
